Packaging Engineer II - Exempt

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for validating and qualifying new packaging materials, such as foil, Tyvek, and film, for absorbable suture products. This role will involve collaboration with a Manufacturing Engineer and a Quality Engineer, with shared responsibility for process development activities. The Packaging Engineer will create validation plans in accordance with company standards. Additionally, the Packaging Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the materials being validated and will consult with the Principal Packaging Engineer regarding any identified gaps. Education and Experience Education Required: BS (or above) Engineering Degree; Mechanical, Manufacturing, Packaging Years' Experience Required: 3-5 Work Schedule Will the contractor be working 40 hours a week? Product Line Support This position will support the GST Focus Factory, specifically in validating and qualifying new nylon film for absorbable suture products. Responsibilities Design, develop, and test a wide variety of containers used for the protection, display, and handling of products. Determine packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required, considering resistance to external variables such as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering. Design package exteriors considering factors such as product identification, sales appeal, aesthetic quality, printing, and production techniques. Manage documentation and coordinate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Support prototype line development in manufacturing facilities/plants.
