Position Title: Production Engineer Department: Operations/Production Management Reports to: Director of Production Management/ Regional Director Direct Reports: None Locations: Des Moines, IA or Greenville, SC Summary Description The Production Engineer is responsible for regional manpower dispatch and labor resource management across multiple projects. This role ensures the right manpower is deployed to the right project at the right time to maximize labor productivity and financial performance. The position serves as the operational link between field teams, operations leadership, and production data systems. Daily coordination with geographically dispersed field staff is required, along with strong communication using phone, email, and digital platforms. This role requires strong analytical capability to evaluate manpower, time collection, and quantity data in order to identify production risks and drive operational efficiency. Specific Responsibilities Manpower Dispatch & Resource Management Lead daily regional manpower dispatch across multiple projects. Coordinate labor allocation nationally while based in Greenville, SC or Des Moines, IA. Balance manpower demand across jobs to optimize productivity and reduce labor risk. Identify labor shortages, overstaffing, and scheduling conflicts in real time. Partner with Regional Operations and field leadership to align manpower with schedule and production targets. Production & Quantity Tracking Manage and maintain daily quantity tracking by cost code. Ensure accurate time collection and alignment between labor hours and quantities installed. Monitor production rates and flag deviations from plan. Identify labor risk driven by inaccurate quantity tracking or manpower misalignment. Data Analytics & Reporting Develop and maintain labor production reports using Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite. Utilize Power BI to analyze manpower trends, labor efficiency, and regional performance. Deliver weekly production and labor performance summaries to Regional Leadership. Translate raw data into actionable operational insights. Communication & Field Coordination Maintain consistent communication with geographically dispersed field teams. Build working relationships with project managers, superintendents, and field supervisors. Communicate labor needs, production performance, and risk areas clearly and directly. Support operational coordination to resolve identified manpower or production issues. Systems & Process Improvement Maintain regional manpower dispatch and production reporting systems. Continuously improve labor tracking and reporting tools. Support integration of field data platforms (Procore experience is a plus). Education / Experience / Requirements 0-5 years of experience in construction operations, production management, or related field. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline preferred. Working knowledge of construction scheduling and critical path concepts. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with Power BI for reporting and analytics preferred. Procore experience is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Clear, direct communicator capable of working with field and leadership teams across regions. Self-driven, organized, and results-oriented.
