TOOLING TECHNICIAN LOCATION: Romulus, MI JOB TYPE: On-Site PAY: Journeyman: $31.00/hour Non-Journeyman: $26.90/hour SCHEDULE: Must be available to work any shift and overtime as required COMPANY OVERVIEW Join a fast-paced manufacturing operation where the Tooling Department plays a critical role in keeping production running efficiently. POSITION SUMMARY The Tooling Technician supports daily tooling operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production tooling. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to resolving issues on the production floor and in the shop. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Complete assigned daily shop activities from start to finish. Accurately report daily work and tooling activity. Diagnose and resolve production tooling issues both on the floor and in the shop. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling and processes. Maintain safe work practices at all times. Participate in additional duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Any combination of education, training, and hands-on experience that demonstrates the ability to perform Tooling Department duties. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to share knowledge effectively. Proven attendance and solid disciplinary record. Ability to troubleshoot tooling and production issues independently. Self-starter mindset with strong follow-through. Willingness to suggest improvements and new ideas. Ability to work any shift and overtime as required. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Welding and fabrication experience. Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Experience with tool modifications, reseals, and repairs. Must pass Tool Technician ability evaluation. Forklift certification required. HAZMAT training provided. WORK ENVIRONMENT Manufacturing and tooling shop setting. Fast-paced, hands-on role supporting production. Strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and teamwork. DRESS CODE Industrial work attire PPE as required
