Position Pharmacy Reimbursement Specialist Location Beaufort Memorial Hospital Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Shift -not applicable- Exempt/Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Description The Reimbursement Specialist will ensure that Beaufort Memorial Hospital is obtaining the appropriate and highest reimbursement for claims for drugs ordered and administered in the outpatient infusion centers. The incumbent will have a comprehensive approach to drug and agent ordering, insurance verification, pre-authorization, guidance for appropriate product selection and claim reconciliation. This person will follow up on claim adjudication to include claim rejects, underpayments and appropriate reimbursement to respective payer contacts. This person may also work on co-pay and drug reimbursement cards, which may be available to the patient to minimize out of pocket costs. This position will work closely with Prescribing Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacy, Finance, Pre Authorization, Infusion and Oncology staff. This position will report directly to Pharmacy Leadership with a dotted line to Finance and Oncology leadership in a highly matrixed setting. Position RequirementsEDUCATION: High School graduate preferred (some college preferred) EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year of Clinical experience in Pharmacy technology, Infusion Therapy, or some related field preferred. Experience with medical insurance claims reconciliation preferred. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Service excellence, patient, and family centered care by showing respect, honesty, fairness and a positive attitude toward all patients. Superior written and verbal communication skills that can be applied for interviewing patients, family, care providers, and interacting with interdisciplinary staff, and external resources. Ability to assess work activities and allocate resources appropriately; ability to work independently, prioritize tasks efficiently to meet expected periods, and handle stress appropriately. Basic understanding of cultural diversity. Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office applications. Willingness to work a variety of schedules to include long hours, evenings, holidays and weekends. CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES: SC State Pharmacy Technician registration required.
