Job DescriptionUW Medical Center-Northwest- Food and Nutrition Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Dietitian. This position supports the Behavioral Health Unit.WORK SCHEDULE Part time, 60% FTE, 24 hrs/week Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am-4:30pm DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Nutrition and Food Services department supports UW Medical Center's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community.Our vision is to create a supportive and empowering workplace for all, provide unparalleled experiences for our customers and patients, and improve the quality of life and health of the public.The Center for Behavioral Health and Learning (CBHL) at UW Medical Center - Northwest (is a new, 150-bed facility in Seattle providing specialized, patient-centered care for serious mental illnesses. It offers inpatient care, long-term civil commitment treatment, and advanced neuromodulation therapies (ECT/TMS). The center serves as a key regional hub for psychiatric training, inpatient, and outpatient services, integrating with UW Medicine's broader mental healthPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS Assess patient nutritional status and needs, develops and implements nutritional care plans, and evaluates and reports those results appropriately Provide clinical dietitian services and/or nutrition education services in an inpatient setting PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluate patients' diet, nutritional needs, and lifestylewith an understanding ofthe impactsbothofandonbehavioral healthcareneeds. Develop comprehensive nutritional care plans to promote diseaseprevention,manage symptoms,and diagnoseandtreat malnutrition. Coordinate patient carewithin a multidisciplinary care team. Document careplan, results, and services provided. Participateinclinical rounds and patient care conferences. Educate inpatients on nutrition and diet, developpatient education curriculum and materials, and leadgroupclasses. Analyze effectiveness of serviceshighlighting patient outcomes. Assistin development and implementation of nutritional standards of care Participate in performance / quality improvement programs. Participate in compliance activities to meetJointCommission and other regulatory guidelines. Support patient satisfaction and customer service initiatives. Serve as a liaison between food services, the patients, and the care teambyprovidingdirectionto diet technicians, diet clerks, andfood services managersto ensure patient room meals are prepared and delivered in a manner consistent with nutritional care plan. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree involving major study in food and nutrition or dietetics and registration as a Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association Eligible for registration at the time of hire and pass the registration examination within one year of date of hire.
