Registered Nurse - Wound Care (WOCN)Facility: University of Maryland Medical Center - Midtown Campus Location: 827 Linden Ave, Baltimore, MD 21201 Start Date: January 26, 2026 Duration: 12 Weeks Shift: Days - 5×8 Hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) Schedule: Monday-Friday Float Required: May be required to float within the specialty to downtown campus as needed Block Schedule: Available (Weekdays only) Position Overview The Wound Ostomy Continence (WOCN) team at UMMC Midtown Campus provides specialized inpatient wound, ostomy, and skin care services across multiple units. The team rounds on 4-5 units daily and manages patients with complex acute and chronic wounds, pressure injuries, and ostomies across all age groups. This role requires strong clinical expertise in wound assessment, treatment planning, and patient/family education. Epic is used for documentation. RequirementsLicensure: Active MD RN License or Compact License - Required (Must be in hand at submission) Experience: Minimum 1 year recent wound care experience - Required First-time travelers accepted with strong wound care skills and experience Patient Ratio Experience: Not specified (consult-based service) Travel Experience: Travel experience not required Teaching Hospital Experience: Not required Local Radius Rule: Locals within 50 miles - Not Accepted Certifications BLS (AHA) - Required WCC - Required WOCN - Preferred Charting System Epic - Preferred Core Skills & CompetenciesWound Assessment & Management Pressure ulcer assessment, staging (Stage I-IV), and management Venous, arterial, neuropathic, and surgical wound assessment Tunneling and undermining evaluation Wound measurements and documentation Braden Scale and skin risk assessments Wound Treatments & Therapies Alginate, foam, hydrocolloid, and hydrogel dressings Enzymatic and autolytic debridement Mechanical debridement Silver products and skin substitutes Wet-to-damp dressing changes Wound VAC therapy (Preferred) Ostomy & Continence Care Colostomy and ileostomy care and management Ostomy equipment selection and patient education Stoma care (end stoma, loop, double-barrel, mucous fistula) Continence skin care management Urinary and fecal incontinence programs (Preferred) Additional Clinical Skills G-tube/J-tube feeding and site care Infection prevention and isolation precautions Patient and family education Identification and management of skin integrity risk factors Symptom management related to skin and wound conditions Facility & Unit DetailsUnit: Wound Ostomy Continence (WOCN) Team Daily Visit Volume: Approximately 15 patients per day Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics Vaccine Policy COVID-19 Vaccine: Not Required Flu Vaccine: Required - No Exemptions
