Mechanic

Experience Desired: 2+ Years of professional heavy duty mechanic, bus mechanic, or deisel technician experience. Must be 21 years of age REPORTS TO: Director of District Operations and Transportation, Assistant Superintendent SUPERVISES: None TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month position EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation and Support Services Personnel. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilize heavy-duty mechanic knowledge, skills, and ability to maintain the school fleet. Perform vehicle inspections and major and minor repairs, as well as monitor/complete ongoing regularly scheduled maintenance. Ensure fleet vehicles are in safe, working order when placed in service and free of mechanical defects. Diagnose/troubleshoot all major component groups. Respond to road calls and troubleshoot in the field when necessary. Proficient use of diagnostic equipment. Utilize proficient and effective time management skills in performing assigned tasks. Perform metal and fiberglass fabrication. Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain a safe work environment and clean work area. Regular and predictable attendance according to the position's approved work schedule. Other related duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Possess knowledge of fleet maintenance procedures. Possess basic computer skills necessary, including use of Microsoft Word & Excel. Possess necessary tools and the ability to use a variety of shop tools and equipment.
