Lathe Machinist

SIGNING BONUS AVAILABLE SmartHire is looking for a CNC Lathe Lead Machinist for a client in Sumner WA. Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience AND 3+ years of machine shop lead experience. Strong leadership skills and problem solving skills needed. This is a Full Time, Direct Hire role. Salary: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour. Job Summary Lead the CNC Lathe department in a manufacturing environment producing high-quality machined components for aerospace and defense applications. This role is responsible for hands-on machining, team leadership, and ensuring efficient, accurate, and on-time production. Job Duties & Essential Functions • Set up and operate 2-axis and multi-axis CNC lathes with sub-spindle • Lead and manage a production team of 1-3 employees across two shifts • Oversee daily production schedules and department workflow • Monitor efficiency, quality, and accuracy of all machining operations • Ensure machines are running properly and producing quality parts • Plan and organize fixturing and tooling per work orders • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools; provide guidance and improvement suggestions • Communicate effectively with programming, tooling, scheduling, and management • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment • Perform basic CNC lathe programming (MasterCAM) • Update setup sheets • Review and submit labor tickets, timecards, and work orders accurately Essential Qualifications • 3+ years of machine shop lead experience • 5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, team-oriented leader • Excellent attendance and time management • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods in a warehouse environment • Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluent in English • U.S. Citizen • High School Diploma or GED SmartTalent is an Equal Opportunity Employer #STHMG
