Regional Career Specialist Division: Programs & initiatives Reports to: Senior Vice President of Programs & initiatives FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Revised Date: December 19, 2025 Description The Regional Career Specialist serves as a liaison between the SC Dept. of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education, and the region's school districts to ensure coordination, accountability and delivery of career guidance and work-based learning initiatives as outlined in Perkins IV and EEDA legislative requirements. In addition, the Regional Career Specialist will support the "learning to work" state standards of the South Carolina Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program Model thus, enhancing the delivery of career development the core curriculum standards. The individual will coordinate and present professional development workshops in CATE and career guidance for educators, guidance personnel, students, and parents. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Facilitate regional and/or district-wide professional development and training for administrators, educators, work-based learning coordinators, career specialists and career guidance personnel as it pertains to Perkins V, CTE career guidance, contextual methodology, work-based learning, and GCDF certification training. Develop regional strategies that align secondary and postsecondary career and technical education programs with evolving business and industry needs, to market and showcase the value of technical education to the Trident region, and to prepare students for the next level of education or to enter the workplace. Deliver direct career and technical education services for career development activities as set forth by the Office of Career and Technical Education of SC Department of Education in support of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins V) and Education and Economic Development Act of 2005. Provide schools with student programming and workshop resources related to career development and decision making to serve as a resource during the individual graduation plan development. Provide schools with opportunities to recognize exemplary student achievement through career and academic programs, career and technical student Assure state level compliance as a CTE liaison in relation to accountability measures, by providing technical training and continuous monitoring of work-based learning as it meets the goals of Perkins V and data quality compliance for reporting of work-based learning activities in PowerSchool, the statewide student management reporting system. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education; master's degree preferred. Must possess knowledge of K12 processes and programs Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of computer-based data systems. Excellent eye for detail coupled with organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage and execute multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Working knowledge of local and state governing processes. Other Relevant Attributes Necessary for Success Self-starter who can anticipate the next move and assist in determining where the Chamber should be involved. Good communicator-oral and written. A hard worker, not a clock watcher, and someone who will work to get the project done. A professional who is an excellent representative of our organization. Team oriented.
