Please follow these steps: Step One Step Two School PsychologistPurpose Statement The job of Psychologist is for the purpose of supporting all students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Essential Functions Data-Based Decision Making Understand and utilize assessment methods for identifying strengths and needs, developing effective interventions, services and programs, and measuring progress and outcomes within a multitiered system of supports. Systematically collect data from multiple sources as a foundation for decision-making at the individual, group and systems level Consider ecological factors (e.g., classroom, family, and community characteristics) as a context for assessment and intervention. Consultation and Collaboration Demonstrate skills to effectively communicate, consult and collaborate with others. Understand varied models and strategies of consultation and collaboration applicable to individuals, families, groups and systems. Promote effective implementation of services. Academic Interventions and Instructional Supports Understand the biological, cultural and social influences on academic skills, human learning, cognitive and developmental processes Understand the importance of and recommend evidence-based curricula and instructional strategies Use assessment and data collection methods to implement and evaluate services that support academic skill development in children Mental and Behavioral Health Services and Interventions Understand the various influences on the mental and behavioral health of students Demonstrate knowledge of and recommend the use of evidence-based strategies to promote social-emotional functioning Collaborate with others to design, implement and evaluate services that promote resilience and positive behavior School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning Demonstrate an understanding of system structures, organization and theory along with general and special education programming Collaborate with others to develop and implement practices and strategies to create and maintain safe, effective and supportive learning environments for students and school staff Services to Promote Safe and Supportive Schools Utilize principles and research related to social-emotional well being, resilience and risk factors in learning, mental and behavioral health. Develop services in schools and communities to support multi-tiered prevention and health promotion and evidence-based strategies for creating safe and supportive schools. Engage in and promote preventive and responsive services that enhance learning, mental and behavioral health, and psychological and physical safety Implement effective crisis prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery Family, School and Community Collaboration Demonstrate an understanding of principles and research related to family systems, strengths, needs and cultures Utilize evidence-based strategies to support positive family influences on children's learning and mental health Develop and enhance collaboration between families and schools Design, implement and evaluate services that respond to culture and context Equitable Practices for Diverse Student Populations Stay current on principles and research related to diversity in children, families, schools and communities. Implement evidence-based strategies to enhance services in both general and special education and address potential influences related to diversity Promote and utilize equitable practices to help ensure all children have the same access to appropriate educational opportunities Research and Evidence-Based Practice Utilize knowledge of research design, statistics, measurement and varied data collection and analysis techniques to understand research and interpret data Evaluate and apply research as a foundation for service delivery and use various techniques and technology resources for data collection, measurement and analysis Legal, Ethical and Professional Practice Maintain knowledge of current legal and ethical standards related to the practice of school psychology Provide services consistent with ethical, legal and professional standards Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, responsibility, adaptability, initiative, dependability and technological competence Other Functions Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities including collaboration and co-treating students with other district personnel. Job Requirements Mental Requirements Learning Development- Level F Advanced, in-depth understanding in a widely recognized field of study. additional command of principles, facts, and practices associated with multiple specialized fields. Learning development is achieved by the completion of a master's degree program or equivalent, very advanced mathematics and language development, advanced understanding of practical systems. Problem Solving - Level 3 Work situations are of sufficient scope and variety that significant interpretation and evaluation is required to successfully recognize and define problems. Highly technical judgments and/or constructive thinking involved. Alternative solutions must be considered and short-term action plans must be developed and sequenced Physical Requirements Physical Skill - Level A Basic level of learned physical skill is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Physical Effort - Level 1 Minimal physical exertion is required. Most job time is spent sitting with occasional walking. Occasional lifting, guiding, and carrying of lightweight materials or equipment. Social Requirements Human Relations Skill- Level B Job requires patience in communication and well-developed verbal skills to exchange technical or complex information with individuals or small, informal groups. Skills in establishing harmonious relationships and gaining cooperation are important. Scope of Contacts - Level 2 Interpersonal contacts extend to peers in other work groups, or to clients/customers who speak the language, either within or outside the organization. interactions with higher levels of authority beyond the immediate supervisor must be conducted on an intermittent basis. Work Environment Performance Environment - Level B Work pressure, disturbances of work flow, and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Changes in the performance environment require occasional upgrading of skills. Physical Working Conditions - Level 1 Generally good working conditions. Little or no exposure to extremes in noise, temperature, etc. little or no exposure to safety or health hazards. Experience, Education, and Certifications Experience: Job related experience within the specialized field is required. Education: Master's degree from an accredited educational institution. Certifications/Clearances: Arizona School Psychologist Certification. Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.
