Job Description Human Resources announces an opening for an Hourly Lifeguard I/II/III position in the Facilities & Operations Department with the Aquatics Office. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Comprehensive knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques. Understanding of facility policies, procedures, and rules. Knowledge of water quality management and pool equipment operations. Knowledge of the principles and practices of facility rules, policies, and procedures. Public relations, and leadership, and decision-making skills. Experience operating a cash register Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, colleagues and the general public. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Lifeguard Training/First Aid certification CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification Lifeguard II must have at least 1 year of lifeguard experience. Lifeguard III should have at least 2 years of lifeguard experience; and willingness to work as an Aquatics instructor aide ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (May not include all duties performed.) Recognizes and responds effectively to emergencies. Enforces all of the facility policies, rules, and regulations. Performs front desk duties including greeting patrons, checking membership or residency cards, answering telephones, answering questions, collecting fees and selling memberships. Performs custodial duties as outlined in the aquatic SOP Completes daily reports as outlined in the Log Book Participates in in-service training, and exercises regularly to maintain an appropriate fitness level to be able to respond to a water emergency Participates in the management of pool operations including filter systems and water quality, as assigned. Completes daily reports such as usage, bank log and fee receipts as assigned. Performs minor maintenance and repair of swimming pool and building equipment Salary range based on 25/26 pay plan. PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES: Work requires walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, sitting, lifting and moving heavy items, and the physical strength and agility to remove or assist a distressed person in the swimming pool. HAZARDS/UNUSUAL DEMANDS: Work involves exposure to cleaning chemicals and swimming pool chemicals including chlorine, potential exposure to blood and body fluids at the scene of an injury or accident. Exposure to swimming pool chemicals may require the use of goggles, apron, rubber gloves, and facemasks.
