Job Full Description Now Hiring: Production Assistants - 2nd (Temp-to-Hire) Location: 400,000 sq. ft. facility | Romeoville, IL Union Opportunity | Local 597 Starting Pay: $21/hour - Raise upon hire by company We are seeking skilled Production Assistants to join our 2nd shift (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM). Immediate openings are available for candidates with mechanical aptitude, technical skills, and a strong safety mindset. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and operate production equipment under the guidance of leads and operators Interpret work orders and shop drawings; set up machinery to meet quality standards Use material handling equipment and overhead cranes Lift, package, and move finished goods Perform light machine maintenance as directed Load/unload raw materials with cranes; maintain accurate ERP records Communicate effectively during shift handoffs Maintain workflow and report any equipment or production issues What We're Looking For: High school diploma required; technical training or Associate's degree preferred 2-5 years of manufacturing or production experience Ability to read blueprints, calipers, and tape measures Comfortable with shop math (trigonometry a plus) Skilled in operating cutting, laser, and bending equipment English comprehension is required for safety and communication Spanish-speaking resources available onsite This is a skilled role - not general labor Work Conditions: Physically demanding environment: standing, lifting (up to 60 lbs.), bending Exposure to noise, vibration, and varying temperatures PPE provided: hi-vis vest, 1 pair of steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards, prescription safety glasses Locker rooms and company-paid uniforms provided upon hire No cell phones allowed on the shop floor Pre-Employment Requirements: 4-panel rapid drug test (No THC for pre-employment; tested post-accident) 7-year, all-county criminal background check Must wear steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards What to Expect: Orientation: 5 days on 1st shift Temp-to-hire path with full union benefits Immediate hiring decisions following interviews Joliet, IL 3325 215 Brook Forrest Ave. Shorewood, IL 60404
