Description The Network Administrator supports the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization's network and communication systems. This role is designed for individuals who are looking to develop hands-on experience with enterprise networking, cabling, and telecommunications systems while working under the guidance of senior IT staff. Responsibilities Network Operations & Support Monitor network performance and respond to basic connectivity issues. Assist with troubleshooting wired and wireless network problems. Support routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points under supervision. Perform routine firmware updates on network devices. Escalate complex issues to senior network staff as appropriate. Install, replace, terminate, and repair network cabling. Assist with new network connections, cable runs, and equipment installations. Maintain organized racks, patch panels, and network closets. Respond to basic network-related service desk tickets. Support user connectivity issues (wired, wireless, and VPN as applicable). Assist with phone system administration, including adds, moves, and changes Maintain accurate network documentation, including diagrams and inventories. Follow established network security policies and best practices. Assist with log monitoring and retention requirements. Technical Skills Experience in troubleshooting and quickly diagnosing and resolving network connectivity and performance issues. Strong understanding of basic network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Routing, and Switching. Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, connectivity, access points). Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux, including command-line interfaces. Professional Skills Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to work independently with strong self-motivation and organizational skills. Ability to train users one-on-one or in small group settings. Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and integrity in handling sensitive information. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends (on call). Ability to travel locally to support remote facilities. Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 30 pounds.
