Senior Data Governance Manager

Location Richardson,TX Description ESC has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Data Governance to lead and mature enterprise data governance initiatives within a large, complex, client-facing environment in Richardson, TX. This 6-month contract role (with strong potential for conversion to a permanent leadership position) is ideal for an experienced professional who can establish governance frameworks, influence stakeholders across a global organization, and translate complex data concepts into practical, business-focused solutions. You will partner directly with clients, account teams, and cross-functional leaders to drive data quality, standards adoption, master data management practices, and governance program implementation. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, strong communication skills, and the ability to guide organizations toward trusted, well-managed data assets. Responsibilities: • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of enterprise data governance programs • Partner directly with clients and account teams to implement governance frameworks, standards, and best practices • Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business functions • Develop and enforce data policies, controls, and compliance processes • Drive data quality initiatives, including profiling, monitoring, remediation, and reporting • Provide strategic guidance on master data management and metadata practices • Champion adoption of governance tools, platforms, and enterprise data products • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across global teams and business units • Communicate governance concepts in a clear, client-friendly manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Identify data risks, trends, and opportunities through discovery and analysis • Create executive-level presentations, reports, and communications on governance progress and outcomes • Support change management efforts to embed governance practices into day-to-day operations • Mentor and guide teams on governance processes, standards, and data best practices Required Experience: • 5-10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related disciplines • Demonstrated experience working within large, complex, global organizations • Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of governance practices • Experience developing governance policies, standards, and frameworks • Ability to analyze complex data environments and identify improvement opportunities • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics in business terms • Experience working independently while collaborating across multiple teams • Experience exploring data, identifying trends, and presenting actionable insights Preferred Experience: • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered • Commercial real estate or similarly complex industry experience • Experience working with globally distributed teams • SQL experience and familiarity with data platforms or governance tools • Dashboarding or data visualization experience • Experience coaching or mentoring teams on governance practices • Background supporting enterprise-level data strategy or transformation initiatives
