Senior Friendship Centers is looking for a dedicated, strategic, and compassionate Volunteer & Outreach Manager to lead our volunteer program while also spearheading community engagement efforts. This is a dual-impact role-and a vital member of our Advancement Department-that blends relationship-building, strategic outreach, and hands-on volunteer leadership to enhance our mission of building vibrant communities by advancing wellness, connection, and enrichment throughout the journey of aging. Our Volunteer and Outreach Manager should be highly organized, excels at juggling multiple projects at a time, and leads with respect and integrity. Knowledge and experience with the volunteer management software Volgistics is a must. This is an in-office position that requires working at our Sarasota office while also having the flexibility to travel to Senior Friendship Centers' locations/events located throughout SW Florida as needed. Essential Functions:Volunteer Management • Plan, develop, and implement a strategic volunteer program with a focus on recruiting, stewarding, and retaining volunteers. • Recruit and interview volunteers to work in all program areas. • Gather information about each volunteer's skills, availability, and goals; match volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this data. • Schedule, coordinate, and assign volunteers to appropriate departments, supervisors, and mentors. • Regularly communicate with volunteers to ensure the placement is a good fit for the volunteer's skills and goals. • Collaborate with Human Resources Department to ensure volunteer background checks are completed. • Train and work with other departments to appropriately train and onboard volunteers; conduct updated training as needed for all volunteers. • Execute group and individual tours of both Sarasota and Venice campuses. • Plan and maintain the Volunteer and Outreach Program budget. • Create and implement an official orientation program for new volunteers. • Maintain files, records, applications, and other data concerning the volunteer program. • Maintain a database of potential, present, and former volunteers, and sync with the Development office's database. • Track volunteer time and attendance; prepare regular reports of same. • Plan and arrange volunteer recognition events for volunteers in all SFC locations. • Serve as liaison between paid staff and volunteers, working to ensure department needs are met and volunteers retained. • Send birthday cards, get-well cards, condolence cards to volunteers. • Stay current on changing trends in volunteerism, including attending workshops. • Meet regularly with Program Directors and Managers about their volunteer needs. • Draft, maintain and publish guidelines, best practices, and procedures for the volunteer program. COMMUNITY OUTREACH • Educate, network, and represent SFC programs to local agencies, coalitions, and community of stakeholders. • Present in front of groups of diverse audiences, tailoring presentations to ensure content is appropriate for each group and setting. • Seek out and attend community events, and/or secure other staff and volunteers to man exhibit tables to share information about SFC and to recruit volunteers and clients. • Develop strategic partnerships with individuals, businesses, and other organizations that elevate the image of SFC and promote its programs and services. • Create and implement initiatives within the community to advance SFC's mission. • Working in collaboration with the development team, develop a plan for a proactive approach for outreach to promote SFC and its services to the community and potential clients and service/referral providers. • Compose postings for volunteer opportunities for the website, social media, and other outlets. • Assist with capturing volunteer's pictures and testimonials for use on social media. • Create a committee of ambassador volunteers to represent the organization at community meetings and serve as staff support. • Create tools for tracking outreach and measuring the impact and outcomes of the engagement program. • Draft and/or edit correspondence, reports, stories, advertisements, and other communications. • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications on marketing collateral to be used in the community, including flyers, brochures, displays and promotional materials. • Assist with social media content gathering and posting. • Assist with Development Department events as needed and directed. • Take photographs of internal and external events. ORGANIZATIONAL • Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required. • Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies. • Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization's safety and incident policies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • Volunteers • Volunteer and Outreach Program Assistants EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS • Bachelor's Degree preferred or commensurate professional experience to provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfactorily perform in this position. • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit or a related field. • Experience with volunteer coordination and/or community outreach is highly preferred. • Advanced computer skills: including proficiency with Volgistics, Microsoft Office Suite, data applications, and a working knowledge of general office and video equipment. • Familiarity with social media and leading presentations is desirable. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing. • Must be able to lift 20 pounds. • Ability to work outdoors at public events. • Must be able to navigate various departments of a physical location. TRAVEL • Travel will be required as frequently as needed to support operations, fundraising and outreach. • Must have reliable transportation. • A valid driver's license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS • Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required. • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
