Looking for a fun and rewarding summer position, while you can enjoy the wonderful Wisconsin weather? Plamann Park consists of Plamann Lake, a man-made lake; the Children's Farm, home to baby farm animals; 27-hole disc golf course; and numerous hiking and walking trails. Outagamie County is hiring lifeguards for Plamann Lake at Plamann Park in north Appleton! The Seasonal Lifeguard will maintain safety of Plamann Lake Swimmers. Won't start phone screening/interviewing until February/March Lake Hours: Sunday to Saturday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Shift Hours: Every other weekend required Must be willing to work a minimum of 5 days a week Address: Plamann Lake is at 1375 E. Broadway Drive, Appleton, Wisconsin Must be at least 16 years old or older to be a lifeguard This posting is for the Lifeguard position ONLY (June through August 2026) Key Responsibilities Serves as a lifeguard, performs as an integral part of any rescue or first-aid operations. Uses professional demeanor and alertness in all lifeguarding capacities, as well as sound teaching techniques in instructional capacities. Teaches any or all swimming classes of the Plamann Lake Water Safety Program. Operates cash register and performs transactions. Sells seasonal swim passes and daily admission into the lake. Fill in at concessions in the absence of concessions worker. Communicates clearly and effectively with patrons. Assists with crowd control by opening other areas of the lake as needed due to an increase in attendance. Keeps lake area, bathhouse, parking lot, and playground free of litter and waste paper by checking areas and daily pickup. Cleans bathhouse and toilet facilities daily. Rakes beach, removes and disposes of aquatic weeds, and assists with any repairs as required. Other duties may be assigned by Head Lifeguard or Management Assistant. Education/Certifications/Experience Requirements Must be an American Red Cross certified lifeguard. Water Safety Instructor (W.S.I.); First-aid Basics; and C.P.R. for the Professional Rescuer Certifications; and supplemental experience working with or teaching learn to swim programs. Possess the strength and endurance to perform all lifesaving and first-aid procedures while under the most difficult situations. Complete knowledge of all Red Cross swimming and water safety programs, and the ability to teach and demonstrate all swimming strokes. Must be 16 years of age or older. Required or Preferred SkillsMonitor lake and swimming areas to prevent accidents and respond to emergencies Perform water rescues and administer CPR, First Aid, and AED as needed Enforce safety rules and educate visitors on water safety Assess changing water and weather conditions and identify hazards Communicate clearly with patrons and team members during routine operations and emergencies Maintain vigilance, professionalism, and accurate incident documentation Maintain rescue equipment and assigned safety areas Work Environment: Outdoor lakefront setting with exposure to sun, heat, wind, and varying weather conditions Requires prolonged standing, walking, swimming, and physical exertion Fast-paced environment requiring constant alertness and quick response to emergencies Frequent interaction with the public, including children and families Work schedule may include weekends, holidays, and varying shifts Noise exposure from crowds, water activity, and weather conditions OUTAGAMIE COUNTY IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
