Accounts payable specialist

This is a stable, long-term opportunity for an AP specialist who wants a structured professional environment with a great work-life balance. The role offers a 37.5-hour work week (Fridays end at 12:30 PM!) and minimal overtime. While the job position is primarily AP, it sits within the Accounting Operations team, offering exposure to general ledger work and month-end closes. salary: $53,000 - $73,000 per year shift: First work hours: 8 AM - 4 PM education: Bachelors Responsibilities Role Specifics & Daily Duties Scope: This is the sole AP person for the company, backed by the wider team. Workload Mix: approx. 80% AP / 20% Accounting. Invoice Volume: High volume; approximately 400-500 invoices per week. Primary Tasks: Heavy data entry, processing invoices, vendor reconciliations, and researching payment issues. Accounting Duties: Assisting with month-end, journal entries (requires knowledge of debits/credits), employee expense reports, and corporate credit card reconciliations. Ideal Candidate Profile Experience: Needs prior AP experience. Accounting Background: Must understand basic accounting principles (debits/credits). An Associate's degree is nice, but experience is preferred. Excel Proficiency: Non-negotiable. Must know VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and copy/paste functions (Macros not required). Systems: They currently use SAP (will train) and are moving toward a Purchase Order (PO) system soon. Prior PO experience is a plus but not a deal-breaker. Soft Skills: "AP Lifer": Someone who won't view data entry as tedious. Professionalism: Previous candidates have been too casual; looking for authenticity mixed with professional polish. Detail Oriented: Critical for data entry accuracy.
