Job Title: Coordinator -Middle School Site InterventionsDepartment: Learning Pay Grade: Teacher Salary Schedule FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Principal - Middle School Purpose Statement This position is responsible for supporting the instructional process with specific responsibility for facilitating appropriate intervention strategies designed to increase student success and the likelihood that students will persist to graduation; analyzing intervention data; and providing information to others. The Middle School CSI will also ensure a successful transition to the middle school level and the seamless delivery of intervention services for applicable students transitioning into high school. Essential Functions Assists in various leadership capacities expanding staff capacity to apply intervention techniques. Aligns services with high school counselors and CSIs continuing the implementation of support strategies. Assists students and families in the transition between elementary, middle and high school improving the likelihood of success. Assists with student discipline for Top 25 Cohorts as directed by the building principal thus assisting the administrative team. Assists teaching staff in implementing strategies for students with at-risk indicators providing appropriate support from multiple points of contact. Collaborates with activity sponsors and coaches increasing student participation and engagement. Collaborates with elementary counselors identifying students entering middle school with at risk factors. Collaborates with teaching staff relative to the implementation of strategies for at-risk students providing appropriate support from multiple points of contact. Collaborates middle school staff to identify students entering High school with at-risk indicators for the purpose of proactively establishing relationships and increasing awareness. Implements appropriate interventions providing support to students at risk for drop out or failing to graduate. Monitors the attendance of applicable students and assist with appropriate discipline emphasizing the importance of attendance and removing barriers. Monitors data relative to at-risk indicators for applicable students ensuring timely and effective intervention. Supervises students as assigned during the school day and at extracurricular activities ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. Works with appropriate outside agencies for the purpose of gathering and implementing community resources. Performs other related duties as required/assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Minimum of three (3) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements Must have a Missouri Teaching Credential. Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; conflict resolution; standard business practices; program planning and development; concepts of grammar and punctuation; instructional procedures and practices; and concepts of management and supervision. Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: operating standard office equipment including using a variety of software applications; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; analyzing data; facilitating meetings. Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions. Ability to analyze situations to define issues, draw conclusions and create action plans. Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Ability to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; working with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to apply critical thinking/problem solving to improve work processes. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate. The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
