Description The Welder A is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced welding tasks with limited supervision. This role involves reading blueprints, setting up equipment, and producing clean, accurate welds that meet quality standards. The Welder II is expected to work independently on routine assignments and assist in mentoring less experienced welders. Under the direction of the Welding Foreman, performs general labor as needed. Working knowledge of hand tools, Drill Press, Grinders, Tape Measures & Sanders. RequirementsDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: PRODUCTION • Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on various metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. • Read and interpret welding blueprints, job orders, and welding symbols accurately. • Set up welding machines and adjust settings for specific jobs and materials. • Fit and assemble metal components per specifications using measuring tools and layout techniques. • Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity. • Perform basic grinding, cutting, and finishing as needed. • Assist in troubleshooting welding issues and identifying solutions. • Support safety and housekeeping efforts by maintaining a clean and safe work area. • Provide guidance and support to Welder B or helpers when appropriate. MAINTENANCE • General housekeeping in area of work. (Clean up work area after each job) • Responsible to report any equipment that is not working properly to foreman in charge. ACCOUNTABILITIES • Follow instructions of supervisor/foreman. • Communicates well with department foreman and other co-workers. • Reports accidents or any incidents to department foreman. • Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG welding (dual process a plus). • Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols with accuracy. • Familiarity with welding safety standards and PPE requirements. • Skilled in using measuring tools, clamps, fixtures, and grinders. • Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety. JOB SPECIFICATIONS • Skilled in reading, writing and arithmetic in English or Spanish. • Ability to read a tape measure. • Ability to understand & carry out oral and/or written instructions. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or equivalent required. • 2-4 years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. • Formal welding training or certifications (AWS preferred) a plus. JOB DESCRIPTION - PAGE 2 PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Simple grasping with both hands, 3-6 hours. • Reaching below shoulder, 3-6 hours. • Pushing, pulling with both hands, 1-3 hours. • Lift materials up to 60 pounds 2 times a day. • 3-6 hours of standing, bending, stooping and reaching throughout the day. • 1-3 hours of walking within the warehouse. • Up to 1 hour of sitting a day. WORKING CONDITIONS PLANT ENVIROMENT: • Single story insulated metal building with 27' ceiling. • Temperatures ranging form 60 - 90 degrees, no heating or air conditioning. • Florescent lighting, and sky lights, low noise level, exposure to welding flash.
