Job Summary As the IT Advanced Quality Analyst/Tester you will provide professional knowledge and skills in information systems software testing, quality assurance and quality control of application software and systems. This includes the quality of the coding itself and not just the outcome of the application execution. This position promotes appropriate testing methodologies, striving to identify and manage defects in the software systems. Level 4 Quality Assurance Analyst/Testers have advanced expertise. Duties performed by this position are complex, and of a smaller scope than those led by senior Quality Assurance Analysis/Testing staff (ITS5). The QA staff at this level require some direction, coaching, and mentoring when leading the quality assurance/analysis for projects. This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last two (2) years. This position requires an employee to be onsite at 540 Cedar St., St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To qualify, candidates must clearly show all of the following qualifications in their resume. Resume tips available here : This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing IT quality analysis functions. Experience must include: Experience in software quality assurance or application testing, including manual and/or automated testing of enterprise systems. Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, and test scripts across multiple phases of the SDLC (Agile or Waterfall). Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and resolving software defects using defect management tools. Experience validating business and technical requirements for testability, working collaboratively with Business Analysts and development teams. Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and best practices, including test strategy development, regression testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding. Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences. Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within an Agile framework, including participation in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. Experience using automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or comparable tools). Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications with multiple system integrations. Strongly Preferred Qualifications Experience leading QA efforts on moderately complex projects, coordinating testing activities across cross-functional teams. Experience developing and maintaining automated test suites and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines. Experience with IBMCollaboration Lifecycle Management, or similar suite of project management and documentation tools. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior QA staff and provide guidance on testing standards, tools, and methodologies.
