Job Description

Senior Mobility Engineer Location: Sterling Heights, MI Employment Type: Full-Time | Onsite Position Overview The Senior Mobility Engineer is responsible for the design and release of Full Up Powerpack (FUPP) components supporting conventional, hybrid-electric, and fully electric powertrains for ground combat vehicles. This role spans concept definition through engineering development and Technical Data Package (TDP) release, with significant responsibility in modeling and simulation of advanced mobility architectures. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development Evaluate multiple in-vehicle Powerpack configurations including engines, transmissions, MGUs, cooling systems, air handling, and final drives Maintain design release responsibility from component through installation and assembly levels Interface with suppliers of Powerpack modules and components Collaborate with IPT Leads, Systems Engineering, Physical Architecture, FUPP Leads, Chief Engineers, Manufacturing, Logistics, and functional stakeholders Derive and refine design pathways through formal engineering release processes Support internal and external program milestones and design gateways Prepare and present technical findings to leadership, customers, and stakeholders Modeling & Simulation Perform torque blending simulations for parallel hybrid systems Tune control logic for fuel efficiency, battery charging, and vehicle range optimization Develop thermal models for batteries, power electronics, and powertrain systems Support Battery Management System (BMS) modeling Develop multidomain powertrain models integrating engines, e-machines, batteries, and electronic components Develop and maintain analytical toolsets supporting evolving architectures Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Master's preferred) 10+ years of relevant engineering experience Simulation experience using MATLAB/Simulink (required) PLM experience using TeamCenter (required) CREO experience required; additional CAD tools a plus Automotive or Heavy-Duty vehicle experience required Military land vehicle experience preferred Experience developing and maintaining analytical toolsets Experience interrogating and manipulating 3D CAD models and hosted data Strong analytical skills for subsystem sizing and integration Proven technical documentation and presentation skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams Preferred Experience Powertrain electrification experience GD&T expertise Experience with commercial and proprietary simulation software Hybrid and electric propulsion system modeling Why Join CPI Competitive compensation aligned with advanced vehicle mobility programs Opportunity to support next-generation hybrid and electric combat vehicle powertrains Veteran-founded company with strong defense industry roots Dedicated CPI recruiter and ongoing assignment advocacy Access to future mobility, electrification, and advanced systems engineering opportunities across CPI's defense portfolio US CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT: This assignment is a US Government Contract which requires all applicants to be US Citizens.
