Status: Part-Time No BenefitsShift: DaysShift Time Schedule: May varyDays: Primarily Tuesday and Wednesday but may vary, including some FridaysSalary Range: $28.03 - $38.75; depending on experience plus $2.25 per hourshift differential Education: Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an ARRT approved/accreditedprogram in Radiologic Technology Certificates/License: Valid, current State ofIowa Permit to Practice and ARRT registration in Radiologic Technology. Current BCLS certification. Experience: Hospital based experience preferred. Position Summary: Operates radiologicequipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of the human body for diagnosticpurposes, as directed by the Radiologist. Moves x-ray equipment into specifiedpositions and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Explainsprocedure to patient to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation. Monitorsaccessory equipment and assist the physician special radiographic procedures.Perform the described duties in the primary work area and demonstratecompetency in orthopedic radiology, pediatric radiology, trauma radiology anddiagnostic radiology. In addition to meeting competency requirements forwork in more than one primary work area must serve as a super user for variousradiology initiatives. Duties Include: Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing care appropriate to the age of the patient served (Neonate to Geriatric) within the department Maintain performance in compliance with State and Federal laws, consistent with high standards of business and professional ethics. Follows Policies and Procedures of Hospital and Department Practice ALARA techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Practice good Quality Control Able to perform all types of CT exams proficiently Use of contrast power injector Charge imaging procedures, able to modify orders Understands and uses PACS systems Conduct coordination of patient flow for work area or shift Provide education and training to affiliated radiology technology student programs Assist with patient transportation as necessary Maintain effective communication with all levels of supervision and staff Participate in staff meetings and in-services as required. Must bewilling and able to take extra shifts as needed which may include night,holidays and weekends. Will work 1 or 2 assigned holidays (8 hourshifts) Typical Physical Demands: This position requires theability to move about the facility in the care of patients and moving ofequipment. Must be able to bend to the floor and reach overhead, balance,climb, lift, push, pull, walk, stand, crouch, twist and turn while obtainingequipment and supplies or in assisting in patient cares involving walking orpositioning. Verbal and auditory acuity sufficient for over the telephonereporting of patient condition reports, hearing patients' verbal requests andauditory equipment alarms. Vision must be correctable to view computer screensand read printed information. Specific vision abilities required by the jobinclude close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision andability to adjust focus. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephonecontacts and other conversations.
