Job Description: The Department of Health and Sport Studies at Wittenberg University seeks to hire a full-time Professor of Practice faculty member beginning August 1, 2026. This position is designed for an accomplished sport industry professional who is committed to excellent undergraduate teaching, close student mentorship, and experiential learning within a liberal arts environment. The successful candidate will integrate professional practice with the values of a broad-based education, preparing students for meaningful careers and civic engagement in the sport industry. The Professor of Practice will focus primarily on high-quality teaching, student mentorship, and industry engagement. Candidates must provide evidence or potential for success in teaching a variety of undergraduate courses within sport management curriculum and in advising undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities include courses in Sport Management such as: introduction to sport management, international sport management, sport finance, history of women in sport, and sport marketing among others. In addition, candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills, develop collegial relationships, and maintain a commitment to service to the department and the institution. Depending on the candidate's expertise and experience, there is potential for the successful candidate to also teach in the Master's in Sport Administration program. University funding is available to support faculty research with students, travel to professional meetings, and other professional development opportunities. Requirements: A Master's degree in Sport Management or closely related field is required. A terminal degree in Sport Management or related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., or JD) is preferred. Candidates that are ABD working toward Ph.D./Ed.D. completion will be considered. Candidates must have a strong commitment and interest in teaching in the liberal arts and sciences context.
