Pay Rate: $22 per hour (Commensurate with experience)Pay differentials:PM or Night Shifts: Additional $2 shift differentialPlus, an additional 10% Weekend Differential for all shiftsPOSITION PURPOSE: The Scheduler ensures a full continuum of resident-centered care is provided to ensure optimal outcomes through the development and maintenance of staff schedules and auditing reports and providing data to the DON/ADON/Administrator for appropriate action. ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB DUTIES: Resident Rights • Understands and adheres to Resident Rights at all times. • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information. • Reports all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property. • Respects privacy of residents; including those as prescribed by HIPAA. Customer Service • Responds with respect, patience, compassion, and helpfulness to residents, visitors, and staff at all times. • Maintains a respectful and pleasing tone of voice at all times. • Never raises voice in anger, frustration, or shouts to communicate with someone inside or outside building. Conduct & Professionalism • Attendance & Tardiness: Consistently reports to work as scheduled and properly notifies supervisor when unable to do so. • Maintains a professional appearance by adhering to dress code as prescribed by supervisor and SSL standards. • Maintains an orderly work area. • Maintains positive working relationships with all employees within department and among departments. Sets aside individual differences for the sake of the residents. • Responds appropriately to constructive criticism or corrective action administered by supervisory personnel with SSL. • Responds constructively to changes and/or problems which may arise on the job to ensure that stress is dealt with effectively. • Respects the building, grounds, and equipment of SSL and personal property of residents and visitors. • Adheres to the organization's Code of Conduct at all times. Safety & Sanitation • Remains alert at all times, assuring that SSL and its residents are safe and secure at all times. • Actively participates in the SSL Safety Program by direct service on the Safety Committee, or by observing and reporting unsafe conditions to supervisor and by performing all assigned duties with proper body mechanics. • Attends In-Service sessions as required by facility and supervisor. • Remains task oriented while on the job, with no allowance for horseplay or otherwise distracting oneself or others from the important task(s) of caring for residents. Primary Job Duties • Develops and manages the Nursing Department schedule to ensure appropriate coverage is available at all times for all shifts. May be required to carry the on-call phone to manage call offs. • Utilizes the electronic scheduling system to keep schedules up to date, coordinates Agency coverage as needed, manages Agency relations, keeps Agency use within departmental goals, responds to call offs and tracks attendance for purpose of enforcing attendance policy. • Refers all attendance, performance, and quality control issues to the DON and/or ADON for appropriate staff action to be delivered by the DON and/or ADON. • Maintains Nursing Department timecards, reviewing for accuracy on an on-going basis, and tracking time and attendance for compliance with the attendance policy. • May assist with completing interviews and selecting CNA candidates. • Ensures unit training/orientation is appropriately scheduled and ensures new employees receive and understand scheduling. • Tracks staff compliance for all required training, Relias, and in-services. Set ups and helps track CPR/ annual/ new hire/ dementia training orientation/education requirement. • Reviews and monitors staff compliance with attendance policies and reporting requirements as well as compliance with regulations pertaining to total resident care, including but not limited to call light and PHB response times, meal service, activities, housekeeping, and laundry, etc. • Assists in direct Resident Care, including answering call lights and assisting wherever needed on the nursing unit • Supports, promotes, and protects Resident Rights. • Makes daily rounds to ensure nursing services/staffing are within acceptable standards. • Audits facility programs as directed by the DON/ADON and provides appropriate reports to the DON and/or ADON to ensure appropriate improvements and/or compliance actions take place. • Fosters a positive work environment by providing support on the floor as needed, providing clear communication, and proactively assisting new CNAs as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or GED • CNA certification required or completion within 90 days of employment • Minimum 2 years working as a scheduler in LTC/SNF environment • Current CPR certification required WORKING CONDITIONS: • May require shift changes or other non-standard work cycle that may interfere with off-duty time. • Potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills. Potential blood borne pathogen exposure. • Subject to possibly hostile and upset residents, family members, etc. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting 35 to 50 pounds; Balancing; Climbing; Crawling; Crouching; Grasping; Kneeling; Pulling; Pushing; Repetitive movement; Standing; Stooping; Inside and outside environmental conditions; Chemical hazards. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Work may involve the use of automated information systems which may include keyboards, computer terminals, telephones, battery-operated devices, copying devices, etc. Work may also require effective verbal and written communication skills.
