Salary: $19.02 - $21.41 Hourly Location : 3101 Center Street, Placerville Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: 202300100 Department: Community Services Department Division: Aquatics Opening Date: 01/16/2026 Closing Date: 3/11/2026 5:00 PM Pacific Duties EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Under direction of the Pool Manager or Aquatics Coordinator, performs all duties pertaining to the supervision, safety and operation of assigned pool facilities and programs: assists in planning, organizing, and supervising swimming activities; assists in training, evaluating and supervising Lifeguards, Instructors and other Staff assigned to work at the pool; assists in conducting weekly staff meetings; maintains proper sanitation of pool water; maintains cleanliness of dressing rooms, walks, restroom facilities and pool areas; provides front line customer service; acts in capacity of Swimming Instructor or Lifeguard as needed; maintains good public relations, completes pool facility reports as required; responsible for the control of activities at the pool and keeping the Pool Manager or Aquatics Coordinator informed of status of personnel, programs, and maintenance conditions affecting program and pool operation; and performs related work as required. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills is: Certificates: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training/First Aid; CPR/AED for Professionals; First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (or other Title 22 equivalent) required. American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor desirable.Education/Experience: Minimum 15 years of age; completion of junior year of high school and two seasons experience as a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor. Skill and Knowledge: Working with people of all ages; teaching swimming lessons according to City standards; organizing training sessions and activities for up to 100 staff members; enforcing City policies and procedures; team building techniques; demonstrating excellent leadership; working with the public; customer service skills; performing current swimming rescue, first aid and CPR skills; preparing reports; following oral and written instructions; working cooperatively with others; being neat, orderly and honest; interpreting policies and procedures. Supplemental Information Hours: May be scheduled to work 10 to 40 hours a week, between the hours of 5:30am and 9:30pm, Saturday through Friday. Employment Dates: Seasonal, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, additional spring and fall employment possible, Application Procedure: City Application and Supplemental Aquatics Employment Application are required. This is a prerequisite for the Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course.
