ABOUT THIS ROLE: The Clinical Services Caseworker delivers comprehensive mental health services to the inmate population. Responsibilities include clinical screening, assessment, intervention, counseling, therapy, treatment planning, and rehabilitation support. Services are provided through both individual and group sessions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducting clinical evaluations and mental health assessments Developing, implementing, and monitoring individualized treatment plans Providing individual and group therapeutic services Delivering crisis intervention, including suicide and homicide risk assessment and response Making recommendations regarding appropriate housing and management of inmates with mental illness Determining appropriate levels of care and coordinating referrals, including hospitalization when necessary Preparing and maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation and reports Serving as a liaison in clinical review with the Community Services Board/Emergency Services, and Forensic Mental Health hospitals Collaborating with medical and security staff to support integrated inmate care This position plays a central role in developing, delivering, and evaluating clinical treatment processes within the detention setting. May perform additional duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Principles and best practices of clinical and behavioral health services Clinical documentation and records management standards Applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to mental health services Crisis intervention and risk assessment practices Professional ethics and confidentiality requirements Caseload management experience Conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions Preparing clear, accurate, and defensible reports and case notes Analyzing and compiling clinical data Providing professional consultation and recommendations Maintaining organized records and tracking systems Using computers and standard software applications effectively Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills Building effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, and partner agencies Exercising sound clinical judgment under pressure MINIMUM EDCUATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, social work, or related field. 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.PREFRRED REQUIREMENTS: Possesses or ability to obtain an unrestricted LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the Commonwealth of Virginia 1-2 years of experience in the delivery of human services to adults and youth in a Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or Emergency Services outpatient program. Experience conducting comprehensive assessments, mental health/substance abuse screenings to include the Columbia-Suicide Severity screening; and make initial diagnosis. Experience evaluating risk and potential need for hospitalization; developing and implementing crisis management plans. WORKING SCHEDULE: Full time 40 hours per week. HIRING RANGE: $81,140.80 - $107,211.65 Annually Starting salary is commensurate with verified related work experience. Fifty percent (50%) of the incentive will be paid after the first ninety (90) days of employment and fifty percent (50%) will be paid following the completion of the assigned probationary period. Probationary employees that voluntarily terminate employment with the County, shall repay the net amount (minus state and federal taxes) of the first bonus installment via a deduction from their annual leave payout and/or remit payment of any remaining balance within thirty (30) days following separation of employment from the County FLSA: Exempt SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal history background investigation to include fingerprint and driving record check. Must pass a polygraph examination. Must pass a pre-employment medical assessment. Incumbents may be subjected to occasional travel. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. May also require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbents may be subjected to workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel within the facility.
