Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment. Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy. Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to support quality outcomes. Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and communicate accurate information to the healthcare team. Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards. Effectively communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes. Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability. Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and provide education supporting health outcomes. Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills and abilities. Education Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. Experience At least one year of nursing experience is preferred. Certification and Licensure Current Registered Nurse license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure. Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Mental and Physical Requirements This position requires considerable mental concentration and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
