Human Resources Generalist POSITION DETAILS: Job Type: Full-Time Pay: Salaried FLSA: Exempt Schedule: Monday-Friday Location: Nevada, Iowa Travel: Limited WHAT WE WILL EXPECT FROM YOU As an HR Generalist at our biofuel plant, you will be a visible and engaged HR on site presence, actively connecting with employees and the local management team to support a positive and aligned workplace. You will execute HR processes with consistency, maintain accurate employee records, and collaborate directly with the Head of HR to ensure strategic priorities are implemented effectively. This role reports directly to the Head of HR and plays a key part in supporting both day-to-day plant operations and broader North America HR initiatives. Essential Functions of the Job: Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in all aspects of HR administration including employee files, documentation, data entry, and compliance-related record keeping. Adhere strictly to established employee file structures, documentation standards, and HR processes to ensure consistency and alignment across all plant locations. Support organizational alignment by following standardized HR practices, policies, and procedures, and by ensuring local practice aligns with company-wide HR expectations. Collaborate closely with the broader HR team and maintain a strong working partnership to support HR initiatives, priorities, and deliverables. Actively contribute to a positive and engaging workplace culture by maintaining a professional and approachable presence, and by participating in company events, employee activities, and onsite initiatives as a representative of the HR team. Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with all the local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Continuously ensure compliance with all company policies and code of conduct. Maintain complete and accurate electronic employee personnel files and records. Coordinate pre-employment documentation, data gathering and processes. Support managers and employees in the performance review process. Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring all required documentation is collected, recorded, and compliant with company policies. Support payroll team by reviewing and preparing payroll related data. Assist in implementing professional development, training, and coaching initiatives. Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as payroll, benefits, leave of absence, and resolve any issues that may arise. Prepare and provide various HR related reports to VERBIO Germany and local management. Help draft, update, and maintain accurate job descriptions as needed. Collaborate with the recruiting partners and help coordinate interviews and in-person meetings. Prepare job offers, responding to candidate questions regarding compensation, benefits, and company policies. Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of all plant employees, job titles, reporting relationships, and departmental structures; ensure accurate and timely updates to organizational charts and employee records. Routinely walk the plant and office areas to meet and support employees, understand operational workflows, and remain connected to day-to-day plant activities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree/ 4 years college degree Proven work experience as an HR Specialist or Generalist (at least 3 years) preferably in production/plant environment Work experience should include knowledge of basic HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance related topics. Familiarity with HCM and payroll platforms such as Paycor, ADP, or other Familiar with recruiting and applicant tracking platforms Strong MS Office and SharePoint knowledge Knowledge of labor law, payroll related tax law and social security law A structured way of working as well as a high organizational ability and assertiveness Positive team player with effective and strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work with sensitive data and maintain confidentiality HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR a plus PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIORNMENT REQUIREMENTS: This role operates in both an office and manufacturing plant environment. When present in the plant, the employee must be able to wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include flame-resistant (FR) clothing, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves. The position involves primarily office-based work, including prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, as well as regular movement throughout the facility. This may include standing, walking on the production floor, and transitioning between sitting, standing, and walking as needed during the workday. ABOUT US: VERBIO Nevada Biorefinery, located in Nevada, Iowa (USA), is the first industrial-scale renewable natural gas (RNG) facility in North America using agricultural residues as its feedstock. The plant is 100% owned by VERBIO North America Holdings Corporation. RNG production from corn stover began in December 2021 with the completion of Phase I, at a capacity of 7 million ethanol gallons equivalent (EGE) per year. Upon completion of Phase II in the 4th quarter of 2022, the site will begin operating as a biorefinery, producing 60 million gallons of corn-based ethanol and an additional 19 million gallons of RNG from stillage. The integration of RNG and ethanol production, unique to VERBIO, incorporates advanced operational technology currently practiced at the company's facilities in Germany. The process also yields humus, a soil amendment, and organic fertilizers.
