Job Description

Purpose and role of job: Responsible for operating a yard jockey to move trailers in and out of docks, around the yard and from building to building on public roads. Must be able to back trailers up to dock doors and drop trailers, often with other trailers on either side. May also be required to use other warehouse equipment, such as pallet jacks, manual jacks and forklifts with box clamps, roll clamps and carpet poles. Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities: • Driving the yard jockey, transport trailers around the facility, on public roads and between buildings. • Performs other duties as necessary when directed to do so. Education and experience requirements: • Must have a valid CDL - Class A driver's license. • Previous CDL - Class A driving experience a plus • Must have a valid driver's license with no infractions • Good communications skills (verbal and written) • Ability to fill out all required DOT logs and reports. Work Environment: Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times. Will be required to be outside in all types of weather. Physical Requirements: • Raise legs high to climb up into yard jockey or onto other motorized equipment. • Reaching into truck and/or trailer. • Must be able to bend with knees. • Use hands and arms to connect trailer to jockey and to drive. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to read and understand all safety requirements, hear sounds and see traffic signals.
