Job Details: Job Title: Stationary Engineer Location: 1225 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA (90017) Duration: 13 weeks (potential contract-to-hire) Shift: Day - 5x8-hour (09:00 - 17:30); must have weekend availability Position Summary The Stationary Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical generators, boilers, HVAC systems, and water treatment systems within a hospital power plant environment. Required Qualifications LA City Steam Engineers Unlimited License (must be active at time of submittal) LA City Fire Card (must be obtained within 2 weeks of employment) Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital power plant Key Skills Knowledge of hazardous materials (HVAC and boiler systems) Ability to operate and maintain plant equipment efficiently Strong documentation and monitoring skills Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to oversee evening/weekend shift work as needed Duties & Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain all central plant systems to ensure safe and efficient performance. Record and document equipment readings, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities. Safely mix and handle water treatment chemicals while maintaining compliance with safety standards. Maintain a clean and orderly central plant and provide status updates on equipment. Respond to emergency codes in a timely and professional manner. Uphold HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards. Support hospital safety practices to maintain a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Teamwork & Customer Service Expectations Treat all patients, staff, and visitors with respect, dignity, and compassion. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information. Communicate openly, accept feedback, and encourage team collaboration. Take initiative to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment. Personal Qualities Professional appearance and adherence to hospital dress code. Flexible and willing to take on additional duties as needed. Reliable, punctual, and able to complete work within designated timelines. Physical Demands Ability to perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, sitting, and lifting as required.
