LaGrange District 102 is committed to building and sustaining a multicultural school community that fosters equity, diversity, and inclusion.Qualifications: Shall hold a current license in the State of Illinois as a Registered Nurse Shall hold a School Service Personnel Certificate - Type 73 Shall hold or agree to obtain a current certification as a vision and hearing screener Shall have a working knowledge of public school rules and regulations Membership and involvement in professional organizations are preferred Should be acquainted with the needs and special services of special education students (working knowledge of Individualized Education Programs and ability to write the health component) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education might find acceptable Responsibilities: Conducts and/or supervises school health screenings Assumes responsibility for the identification and referral of students in need of medical and dental care Consults with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school health matters Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students Observes students to detect health needs Supervises the care given to a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness while under the jurisdiction of the school Visits student homes when necessary Participates with administration and school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program Assists in the development and maintenance of school health policy Advises on the modification of the educational program to meet the health needs of individual students Prepares and submits health data and reports as required Advises on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases. Provides in-service and advises teachers on health matters, particularly regarding teacher observation skills for student health problems, communicable diseases and special health needs of students Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools Assists in health instruction, family education, and other health topics in each assigned school building Attends committee meetings and conferences regardingthe health service and the health curriculum Provides ongoing training, planning, and supervision of health aide activities Administers and/or monitors any medical treatment and/or medication given to students while attending school Assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the superintendent.
