Job Description

We are seeking a motivated research intern with a background in biological sciences to work in the in the Department of Abdominal Imaging at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Intern will generate cine animations and time-intensity curves from dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI studies. The animations will be presented to radiologists, who will be asked to classify time-intensity curves as one of 5 types. Their responses will be compared to the reference standard time-intensity curves. All duties and responsibilities are carried out in compliance with institutional policies, ethical research standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. How to export DICOM images 2. How to generate cine animations and time intensity curves from dynamic contrast enhanced MRI 3. How to conduct a visual categorization study as it pertains to radiologist perception ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will have recently (within one year) been awarded a bachelor's or master's degree in the biological sciences. Research experience is helpful, but not necessary. Applicants associated with a home institution do not qualify. Applicants in a clinical position, postdoctoral fellowship, or faculty position do not qualify. Research Interns cannot change titles to another trainee title upon completion (exception may apply). Expertise or skills in the following areas are highly desirable: statistics software, image analysis software, such as GE AW. We are looking for an outstanding researcher with high motivation, ability to work collaboratively and independently, and a strong commitment to working on the above project. POSITION INFORMATION Offsite work arrangements are subject to approval and may be modified or revoked at any time based on business needs, performance considerations, or regulatory requirements. This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening.
