Job SummaryStaff Urologist - Mid Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville VA Medical CenterLocation: Fayetteville, NC Schedule: Monday-Friday, Days | On-Call Coverage Aptive is seeking a full-time Urologist to support a rewarding opportunity with the Mid Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6), Fayetteville VA Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. Position Overview The Urologist will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient urologic care to Veterans at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center within the Department of Surgery. The role is well-supported operationally and clinically, with consistent staffing, defined schedules, and mission-aligned leadership. Overall, this position delivers high-quality, patient-centered urologic services across a broad spectrum of medical and surgical conditions, often involving patients with complex comorbidities, chronic pain, and mental health needs. As the service continues to expand access to urological care, this provider will meaningfully contribute to program development and continuity of patient services. Primary ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient urologic care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of urologic conditions. Perform operative urologic procedures and manage preoperative, postoperative, and follow-up care in accordance with approved clinical privileges. Conduct admission histories and physicals, consultations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and aftercare plans with accurate and timely documentation. Deliver patient-centered care to a complex Veteran population, including patients with multiple comorbidities, chronic pain, and mental health conditions. Participate in call coverage and provide urologic consult services as directed by the Chief of Surgery. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality, and safe patient care. Engage in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and compliance with national, VISN, and facility policies and accreditation requirements. Contribute to education and training activities, including teaching and supervision of trainees, and participate in research activities as applicable. Work Environment & Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. On-Call Coverage: 5 days per month Collaborative support from nursing and administrative personnel Compensation & Benefits $350,000-$400,000 salary Eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) up to $200,000 Comprehensive federal benefits package including: Health, dental, and vision insurance Federal retirement programs with matching contributions Paid federal holidays and paid annual leave Continuing education support and malpractice coverage Eligibility for performance-based pay and recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives, as approved Opportunity for additional compensation through on-call responsibilities or extended coverage, where applicable Retention and relocation incentives may be available for highly qualified applicants Minimum QualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school Completion of an ACGME-accredited urology residency program Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging through the Professional Standards Board Demonstrated competence in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of urologic conditions Ability to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient urologic care to a complex patient population Proficiency in clinical documentation, consult management, and use of VA electronic health record systems Ability to meet VA performance standards related to patient care, professionalism, communication, and systems-based practice Desired QualificationsBoard certification or board eligibility in Urology Experience practicing in a hospital-based or academic medical center Prior experience working with medically complex patients, including those with multiple comorbidities and mental health conditions Experience providing call coverage and consultative services in an acute care setting Teaching or mentoring experience with residents, medical students, or other trainees Participation in quality improvement, patient safety, or process improvement initiatives Research experience or interest in clinical research and program development Prior experience working within the VA, federal healthcare system, or similarly regulated environment About Aptive Arrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
