Position Type: Facilities/Custodial Date Posted: 2/12/2026 Location: District Office Date Available: TBD Closing Date: Until Filled District Wide Painter - Full-Time, 3:30pm-11:30pmPOSITION OVERVIEW The Painter/Carpenter will perform skilled work in the areas of painting, carpentry and general maintenance; to provide functional and technical supervision to maintenance staff; to perform routine maintenance work; and to do related work as assigned. SALARY RANGE The salary range for this role can be found in the provided link: Salary Scales ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. IMPORTANT: Flexibility is important, as hours are subject to change. PAINTING Use brush or spray gun in applying all types of paint products or other protective or decorative finishes to all types of surfaces, including buildings and furniture. Scrape, sand, fill, plaster, or in some manner prepare surfaces for painting and repainting. Match, blend, harmonize and contrast colors. Apply under and finish coats. Size and tint plaster walls and other surfaces. Refinish furniture and other equipment. Stain, paint, lacquer and varnish cabinets, desks and other furniture. Erect, rig or move scaffolding and platforms. Clean brushes, tools and other equipment. Paint signs. CARPENTRY Construct, install and finish all types of cabinets and appurtenant substructures. Mill and install molding and other wood articles. Install hardware on cabinets, including handles, hinges, locks, catches and stops. Read blueprints, prepare simple sketches, prepare material lists, and lay out the work at the job site. Operate all types of woodworking machinery and maintain it in good order. Frame walls, ceilings and floors. Install door hardware, various wall and ceiling coverings such as sheetrock and ceiling tiles, and floor coverings such as asphalt, vinyl tile, carpeting and sheet goods. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Below are the qualifications for this position: Able to read, write, and understand instructions. Have a current Class D driver's license. Demonstrate knowledge and physical ability to perform the tasks as outlined below. Ability to operate lawn mowers, tractors, snow blowers/plows and other maintenance machinery used in the daily operation of the school district. Basic knowledge of small and vehicular engine maintenance and repair. Experience in establishing and maintaining natural grass fields. Any other experience, education or combination which would be acceptable to the Board of Education showing or demonstrating that an applicant could successfully administer the duties as described below. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this position: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain skills. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Environment • Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times. • Driving a vehicle and operating mobile motorized equipment to conduct work. • Working on ladders at varying heights. • Exposure to chemicals, fumes; noise from vehicle and equipment operation, dust, dirt, oil/grease, gases, and pollen. • Working with or around machinery with moving parts. • Subject to loud noises. Physical Demands • Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time. • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds. • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching. • Repeated bending. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate grounds equipment and tools. • Repetitive use of wrists and/or hands. • Ability to maintain balance. • Reaching overhead, horizontally and above the shoulders. • Rapid mental/muscular coordination. • Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner. • Accurate depth perception. • Clarity of vision at varying distances to see small details and have color vision/distinguish shades.
