Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection dosage regimen design effective administration and drug therapy monitoring services in the UVA Medical Center. Monitors inpatient and outpatient drug therapies when appropriate and works with relating medical staff to find alternatives when needed to ensure the best care possible is being given. What You'll Do Lead Medication Safety: Prepare, dispense, and manage medications to ensure every patient receives the right therapy at the right time. Be the Expert: Provide drug therapy consultations and guide healthcare teams in optimizing treatment plans. Experience: PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience. (3.years). PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas. Licensure/Certifications: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy. License required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider. BLS certification required Physical Demands - Job requires sitting for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: typing. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull Compensation The pay rate for this role starts at $64.37 per hour. New hire compensation will be determined by education and experience. Onboarding Requirements Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. The starting base rate for this role is $64.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
