Job Description Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Facilities Coordinator who will assist the Director of Facilities in a wide range of responsibilities. Some of the duties include assist Director of Facilities with development of plans for renovations and handling of ongoing facility maintenance and repair; oversee relocation of ME labs, equipment, and offices. Assist with routine lab inspections. Work with the Facilities Assistant and Laboratory Instrument Maker to assemble and install new laboratory equipment; assist with inventory control (surplus property) and inventory audit conducted by the VT Controller's Office; aid in the removal of unwanted items and cleaning of laboratories in preparation for new faculty occupants; other tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities. Required Qualifications • Must be able to lift and carry 25+ lbs safely and regularly. • Physically capable of performing manual tasks for extended periods. • Comfortable using hand tools and performing basic maintenance tasks. • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors and trade personnel. • Expertise in record keeping skills; Computer skills on Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook and Excel. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a facilities or maintenance role is a plus, but not required. • Experience in building and grounds maintenance, including renovations. • Knowledge of university renovation and fixed assets policies and procedures, including inventory, audit and surplus -preferred but not required. Pay Band 3 Overtime Status Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime Appointment Type Restricted Salary Information $17 - $20 Hours per week 25-29 Review Date March 9, 2026 Additional Information The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
