Start date: August 3, 2026 The Building/Woods Paraprofessional assists in the supervision, care and instruction of students with a variety of learning needs under the supervision of a licensed/certified staff member. The Building/Woods Paraprofessional helps prepare students in the area of construction & building to prepare for real-world skills. Essential Responsibilities Adhere and support the philosophy, mission and policies of Tri-County and the school district Follows daily routine given by supervisor Punctual Provides basic supports to students in and/or outside of the classroom setting Demonstrates acceptance of students at their performance level Completes basic training for position Maintains and turns in job related data, timely (including inservice, mileage, and health certificate) Regular attendance Maintains student confidentiality Demonstrates appropriate boundaries with students, staff, and parents Conversations contribute to a positive working environment Establishes rapport with students Gives positive reinforcement and support to students Makes sure classroom and school rules are followed Ability to use current software and web-based programs to perform job responsibilities Knowledge of basic reading and math skills Ability to perform multi-step directions Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written Ability to work with diverse populations React to change and handle other tasks as assigned Support the value of an education Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions Requires prolonged sitting or standing. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects, materials, or students. Stooping, bending, and reaching. Must be able to work in a variety of noisy and crowded environments. May be exposed to being hit, kicked, or bit by a student. Other General Responsibilities Support and adapt for learners to be able to work in a construction setting or Woods class. Implement classroom management plans and individual behavior plans consistently. Assist with maintaining a setting conducive to learning. Perform record keeping and clerical duties, as assigned. Participate in inservice activities to improve job performance and obtain necessary inservice hours. Monitors student activities to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences. Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others. Maintain a positive attitude. Obtain advance approval for inservice training, as required. Adhere to all district and Interlocal health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Building/Construction background. Valid drivers license Health and inoculation certificate on file at the Central Office. Meets Highly Qualified status: 1) hold an Associate's Degree (or higher) from an accredited university or college or 2) complete 48 college credit hours or 3) pass the Master Teacher Test Desire to continue career improvement. Salary According to Classified Pay Scale and/or starting rate, set by board annually Length of term 1116 hours, following the school district calendar and student days Responsible to Special Education Certified/Licensed Supervisor; Building Principal; Special Education Coordinators; Special Education Administration
