This is a paid summer internship. Hours are Monday- Friday from 6:00am- 2:30pm. TPS offers a clean and climate controlled production area- it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer! We design and manufactures industrial and laboratory ovens and furnaces, and environmental temperature cycling and stability test chambers. Visit our website for more information: EOE (Equal Opportunity Employer) Summary: Assists with preparing specifications for installation of apparatus and control instrumentation used to test industrial ovens, environmental testing chambers and pharmaceutical equipment. Ensures all equipment performs to customer specifications and records results by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assist with reading both electrical schematics and plumbing diagrams and troubleshoot wiring using multi-meters and amp probes. Able to assist with installing, setting-up and operating temperature controllers and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Become familiar with downloading to and troubleshooting PLC based control systems. Assist with debugging HMI controls for accuracy and functionality Ability to assist with completing basic plumbing operations. Ability to assist with preparing the layout and performance of temperature and airflow uniformity studies Assisting with coordinating and participating in testing and/or troubleshooting units or systems to be tested in test fixtures, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments. Able to assist with recording test data in electronic format, keeping detailed and accurate records and applying statistical quality control procedures; evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards. Able to assist with troubleshooting and repairing units that do not function according to specifications prior to shipment. Assists with conferring with engineering and other departments to alert them to issues and trends. Ability to interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner. May also work in the electrical panel shop and work on wiring basic through complex custom panels and assisting with connecting finished panels to equipment. May also work in the refrigeration production area assembling skids. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience: Currently enrolled in anAssociate's degree (AA) or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a focus on electrical and/or HVAC troubleshooting. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference, and volume. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Able to use Gmail and other Google programs such as Sheets. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required as an intern.Electrical certificate/training, especially working with high voltage power, may be required depending upon the position in the Test department. Other Qualifications: Knowledge and experience with Allen Brady controls and software such as RS500 and Studio 5000. Knowledge with Allen Bradley Powerflex series VFDS. Experience with gas fired heating systems and Steam heating systems is a bonus. Forklift and scissor lift experience desirable or a willingness to obtain license. Must be a self-starter and able to troubleshoot without constant supervision and be willing work overtime on an as-needed basis to maintain production deadlines.
