Position Overview: As a technical liaison between Quality, Engineering, Quoting, & Production groups this role will support new projects and production with advanced planning, training, troubleshooting and decision making. Key Responsibilities:50% - Advanced Planning for Quality Support quoting and contract review for new programs by identifying inspection, testing, and quality requirements. Participate in design reviews, program kickoffs, and customer coordination to align quality expectations early. Develop and maintain Inspection Plans, including In-Process Inspection (IPI), QC checkpoints, and First Article requirements. Prepare AS9102 First Article packages, including ballooned drawings and Forms 1, 2, and 3. Coordinate PPAP elements, fixture reviews, CMM strategy, and inspection readiness for new product introduction. Develop, promote, and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports Create advancements in current quality engineering practices 25% - Support Production Quality Requirements Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve daily production quality issues with a focus on root cause and prevention. Interpret customer and internal quality requirements and train QC inspectors and production personnel accordingly. Support disposition decisions (use-as-is, rework, repair, scrap) consistent with AS9100, customer requirements, and business risk. Support engineering change management, including redlines, inspection updates, and configuration documentation. Work with process owners to prepare, analyze and improve quality metrics for management reviews and program or project reviews 25% - Preventive and Corrective Action, Continuous Improvement Lead and support root cause analysis and corrective action using structured methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC). Analyze quality data and perform trend analysis (SPC, KPIs) to identify systemic improvement opportunities. Work with process and program owners to improve quality metrics and support management reviews. Support supplier quality activities, including vendor issue resolution, audits, and RMAs. Educate Engineering and Production teams on quality risks, defect prevention, and best practices. 10% - Other activities Provide support to Quality Manager, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, with system execution and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with QMS maintenance and compliance (AS9100 / ISO 9001), including document review and audit participation. Participate in internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits as required. Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational objectives. What You Will Bring to the Team: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and relevant quality/engineering experience). 3-5+ years of experience in an AS9100/ISO9001 manufacturing role Hands-on experience in composite fabrication and inspection strongly preferred. Aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing experience preferred Technical Skills & Knowledge Composite Materials: Carbon fiber, fiberglass, resins, core materials. Manufacturing Processes: Hand layup, spray-up, vacuum infusion, oven/autoclave curing. Quality Tools: SPC, FMEA / PFMEA, Control Plans, 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, Risk Analysis, DMAIC. Metrology: GD&T (ASME Y14.5), CMMs, inspection fixtures, calibration fundamentals. Systems: QMS (AS9100 / ISO 9001), ERP systems, data analysis and reporting tools. Ability to retrieve, analyze, and communicate quality data clearly to technical and leadership audiences. Soft Skills & Competencies Strong written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or within cross-functional teams. Demonstrated leadership in enforcing and improving quality standards. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills. Preferred Skills APQP and PPAP experience. Supplier quality and customer-facing quality experience. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other relevant quality certification. Experience with lean manufacturing environments. Compliance Requirements Due to ITAR / EAR regulations, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a).
