Job Title: Adult Program InstructorJob Status: Part Time - Non-Exempt Division: Recreation Primary Work Location: Community Recreation Center Reports To: Recreation Services Manager Supervisory Responsibility: None Position Summary Responsible for the planning and implementing of instructional classes for adults. The instructor must create a syllabus that is appropriate for the type of class and ability level of the students. The instructor is responsible for the choice of class content and relaying any problems with the supplies to his/her supervisor on a daily basis. He/she must communicate any additional supply needs to the immediate supervisor. Essential Job Duties Provides participants with general information regarding the expectations and format of the class. Organizes and implements lessons within the description of the class. Special activities may be added with permission from Recreation Services Manager. Request supplies as needed. Maintain a neat and orderly work environment including activity rooms and supply storage. Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules. Supports and exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people. Work as scheduled. Establish rapport with CRC and Guest Service Staff. Promote the Wheeling Park District and its programs, facilities and staff. Assist in purchasing of supplies and equipment as needed. Attend scheduled meetings with supervisor. Employee must maintain a positive working relationship with subordinates, co-workers and the general public. Employee must possess the ability to deal with residents, staff and job responsibilities under stressful conditions. Perform other duties or special projects as assigned. Position Requirements Must be at least 18 years old. Must have an interest in working with adults in a fun, learning environment. Must have documented expertise in the area he/she is teaching, i.e. painting, sculpture, etc. Skills and Abilities Ability to teach a variety of levels in an individual setting. Ability to work with adults. Possess good oral communication skills. Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival. Must be able to read, write and speak in English. CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days. Position Requirements Must be at least 18 years old. Must have an interest in working with adults in a fun, learning environment. Working Conditions Employee may be exposed to natural and potentially extreme weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to chemicals or other potentially dangerous materials utilized in the manufacturing of arts and crafts or routine maintenance supplies. Employee may be exposed to noise distractions from employees or equipment operation in adjacent work areas.
