Principal Analyst - Healthcare Data Science

Your Role Join our dynamic Product Strategy Insights Analytics team, where you will play a critical role in supporting our Product Strategy and Marketing efforts at Blue Shield of California. As a Principal Analyst, you will report to the Senior Manager of Insights and contribute to impactful analytical and financial modeling that drives product development initiatives. Your insights will help strategists devise innovative approaches to make healthcare more affordable through comprehensive data analysis, cost modeling, and forecasting within the healthcare landscape. Your Knowledge and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in healthcare economics, actuarial science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the healthcare sector. At least 5 years of experience specifically in Health Care (managed care, academic, or government payer). Advanced understanding of healthcare data and operations of managed health plans. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with proficiency in data analysis tools. Solid grasp of statistical methods and advanced modeling techniques, including SVM, K-Means, Random Forest, Boosting, Bayesian inference, and natural language processing. Proficiency in key technical skills, including: Advanced SQL programming skills with experience in Netezza or Oracle. Experience with Tableau for data visualization. SAS expertise, preferably with Advanced Programmer Credential or certification. Applied statistics, data mining, or quantitative analysis using Python and/or R programming. Skilled in experiment design and A/B testing methodologies. Excellent communication and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex information clearly to executive leadership and diverse stakeholders. Able to build strong partnerships, collaborate effectively, and lead cross-functional teams at various experience levels.
