Registered Nurse (RN) - CICU (Full Time Night) Location: Mission Viejo, California Department: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) Schedule: Full-Time | Night Shift (12-hour shifts) The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is a 27-bed cardiac and medical critical care unit specializing in care of: Pre- and post-operative cardiac patients Cardiomyopathy patients requiring mechanical circulatory support Heart failure and post-MI cardiology patients Patients supported with IABP, Swan-Ganz catheters, CRRT, TTM, DKA management, pacemakers, severe sepsis, and respiratory failure The RN - CICU works full-time night shifts to provide specialized, high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients. Under supervision, the nurse monitors patient status, administers medications, operates advanced medical equipment, and collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Deliver direct nursing care to critically ill cardiac and medical patients in CICU Monitor patients with advanced cardiac monitoring devices (IABP, Swan-Ganz, etc.) Administer medications and manage complex treatment plans per physician orders Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate emergency interventions Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and observations Collaborate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other clinical staff Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and standards of nursing care Support patient and family education in cardiac care and recovery processes Required Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ASN, BSN, or equivalent) Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License upon hire Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association) upon hire Current ACLS Certification (American Heart Association) upon hire Minimum 1 year recent ICU nursing experience in an acute care hospital (student clinical experience not accepted) Ideal Candidate Profile: At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience post-licensure in an acute care hospital Graduate from an accredited nursing program Demonstrated ability to manage critically ill cardiac patients with advanced monitoring Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork abilities Recruiter Submission Template Full Name: Degree Major with University and Completion Year: Are you a graduate from an accredited nursing program?
