Licensure: Must possess and maintain a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Education: Documentation of completion of medical school and a U.S. residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is required. Position Summary The Primary Care Physician (PCP) provides comprehensive primary and acute care services in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include: Clinical Care: Management of acute illnesses, chronic disease management, and preventive health services. Competencies: Demonstrated ability in history taking, physical examination, diagnosis, therapeutic interventions, emergency effectiveness, patient management, consultations, and accurate record keeping. Same-Day Care: Provide same-day access for patients and coverage for other PACT providers as needed. Additional ResponsibilitiesSupport the VA mission through participation in national, VISN, and local quality improvement initiatives, including performance measures, monitors, and systems redesign projects. Complete administrative tasks related to patient management and maintenance of treatment records in primary care. Collaborate with supervisory and frontline staff across service lines to improve operations and system-wide processes. Professional ExpectationsExercise professional judgment and expertise in decision-making regarding services and treatments for veterans. Consult with supervisors and colleagues as needed to apply agency policies and practices to new situations. Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in developing new methods, criteria, and proposed policies. Practice at an advanced level, gathering relevant information to guide clinical decisions. Reporting Structure The PCP reports to the Medical Director at their duty station. The site Medical Director reports to the Chief, Primary Care. Travel Travel between facilities may be required depending on the needs of the facility. Schedules will be coordinated ahead of time. Exact mileage is reimbursed at $0.70/mile.
