Trailer Mechanic

About the Job PRS is looking for an Experienced CCT Mechanic to Join or team working at the CSX East Syracuse rail terminal in a recession-proof industry with Teamsters Union 317. PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Starting Rate: $23 Schedule: Must be willing to work weekends, all shifts are Union bids and awarded according to seniority. 0500-1330 0900-1730 1100-1930 1200-2030 APPLICANTS MUST currently live within a 1-hour commute of business location. OUT OF AREA candidates and/or those requiring a relocation will NOT be considered. Job Summary The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for inspecting and analyzing malfunctions, completing repairs, and efficiently rebuilding chassis & trailers. Job Duties and Responsibilities:Duties shall include the ability to service and repair all types of equipment utilized on the terminal: possess welding and minor fabrication skills, troubleshoot and repair all systems but not limited to; brakes, electrical, hydraulic, air suspension, and drivetrain, rebuild components of above system and possess qualifications of an Apprentice mechanic(B) with the ability to perform those duties without supervision. Description of B mechanic is as follows: Duties shall include to perform a P.M. and service all types of equipment on terminal. ability to work on non power equipment including but not limited to chassis ,containers and trailers ;change tires ,troubleshoot and repair electrical system and air system ;change and rebuild legs ;complete brake job ;replace suspension components and align axles; replace chassis ty-down components; minor welding. leg braces, T/L handles, leg mounts, x-member repair and replacement; main rail cracks; perform and certify DOT FMCSA inspections; check plug and unplug reefers; straighten steel container panels; patch aluminum roofs or panels. has to own his own tools. Minimum Qualifications:2 YEARSprior CCT mechanic experience. Valid Driver's License, and dependable transportation.
