Shenandoah Community Health is looking for a part-time Patient Transportation Van Driver for our Winchester location. The driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services for patients to and from Shenandoah Community Health (SCH) locations and approved destinations. The driver serves as a key representative of SCH and must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and a patient-centered approach at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide safe, timely, and efficient transportation for patients to and from SCH sites and other approved locations. Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with SCH policies and applicable privacy regulations. Review daily transportation schedules; verify patient locations, routes, and appointment times; and contact patients to confirm pick-up details. Communicate promptly with the department regarding delays, route changes, vehicle issues, or patient no-shows. Assist patients with boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed, ensuring safety and dignity at all times. Perform interoffice mail, supply, and delivery runs to SCH sites as requested. Ensure assigned vehicle is clean, fueled, and in safe operating condition at all times. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance, safety concerns, or incidents. Inspect and maintain required safety equipment, including spill kits, masks, emergency and first aid kits, and replace supplies as needed. Maintain positive, respectful working relationships with patients, providers, peers, and leadership. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing schedules. Strong commitment to safety and defensive driving practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact respectfully and compassionately with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to maintain concentration on patients, driving, and routes, while restricting cell phone use strictly to essential job-related purposes. Dependability, professionalism, and sound judgment. Qualifications and Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid West Virginia or Virginia driver's license in good standing with no restrictions. Clean driving record with demonstrated safe driving history. Basic computer skills required, including ability to use scheduling and communication tools. Skilled in reading maps, utilizing GPS applications, adhering to directions, and coordinating multiple routes and schedules. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred). Prior experience providing patient transportation, courier services, or driving in a healthcare or social services setting. Knowledge of local roads, service areas, and community resources. Training or experience in customer service, patient support, or working with diverse populations.
