Senior Pathology Assistant

Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Pathology Assistant provides support for the Anatomic Pathology and Cytology sections of the Laboratory.Duties include: Pathologists in the collection of specimens in Bone Marrow exams and autopsies. Provide clerical functions and technical functions under the supervision of the Pathologists. Provide assistance for related tasks including stocking of supplies, cleaning equipment, record handling and storage, specimen handling, storage and disposal, and other duties as assigned. Job Requirements At least 2 years experience in a laboratory environment as either a Pathology Assistant or Laboratory Assistant familiar with handling biological material. Previous experience in an acute care hospital is preferred. Training is provided by the department specific to the work tasks needing to be done. Must have good oral communication skills and be able to interact with Pathologist, physicians, nursing personnel and the public as required. Bilingual skills are preferred but not required. Must have a working knowledge of laboratory operations and familiarity with specimen handling processes, previous pathology experience is preferred. Must be computer literate.
