Child Nutrition Program Coordinator Location: Finance Department/School Board Office FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: Per WBR Salary Schedule Reports To: Director of Finance Terms of Employment: 12 Months Supervises: School Food Service/Cafeteria Managers ESSENTIAL DUTIES/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Understand the aims, objectives and governing regulations of the Food Service Programs. Operates the school food service software programs Utilize the school food service program as an application of sound nutrition and as a means for improving the health and nutrition of the students. Assists managers in the development and implementation of daily work schedules, HACCP, sanitation and safety compliance of employees. Substitutes for managers in their absence, per Supervisor's approval. Assists managers with maintaining cost control at each school site. Keep informed of food service trends to improve and upgrade the Food Service Programs. Become knowledgeable of all local and State health laws and regulations. Reviews required reports submitted by the managers for accuracy and correctness and assists and trains managers in areas of deficiencies. Visits the school cafeterias; assists in conducting annual monitoring reviews; conducts follow-up reviews as indicated. Creates school food service calendar for the year (including bid schedules, food and supplies orders, reports due dates, SFS holidays, special events, etc.). Develops the set-up and/or facilitating of meetings, training of employees and manager certification training. Assists with School Food Service Association projects. Assists managers in analyzing equipment for repairs and maintenance and communicates to the appropriate vendor and/or maintenance by work orders; also makes cost effective recommendations of equipment needs to the Director of Finance. Monitors inventories at school sites to insure adequate supplies as well as prevent excessive inventories. Assists the Director of Human Resources and Staff Support and/or the Director of Finance in the interviewing and recommendation of employment of managers and technicians. Assists managers in finding substitute employees. Plans menus for NSLP, SBP, CACFP and SFSP, that comply with meal requirements and student acceptance. Establish high standards for food preparation and service. Establish good rapport with the students, school food service employees, teaching staff, school administrators, parents and the general public. Assure procurement activities comply with applicable Federal and State statutes, regulation and policies. Research available products and interview vendors to establish and maintain sources of supply and guarantee best quality for lowest price. Responds to calls regarding purchases/payments. Order/purchase department-related supplies and materials. Reviews all food service invoices to monthly statements Prepare all food service invoices for payment to Accounts Payable Prepares and enters Journal Entries for the School Foodservice, CACFP, and SFSP Fund as needed. Monitors and analyzes all revenue sources. Reviews and authorizes all program expenditures Ensures all federal/state regulations regarding nutritional standards, reports, and records are followed Prepares and maintains all records for required audits and reviews Oversees the administration of the district's free and reduced-price meals program according to federal regulations Supervises the overall safety and sanitation program in the school food service cafeterias Updates and maintains a School Food Safety HACCP plan and standardized recipes per USDA standards. Assumes responsibility for preparing all reports regarding food services that are required by local, state, or federal agencies for submitting claims for reimbursement. Attend mandatory and optional professional development and training related to food service operations and activities. Operates the Summer School Food Program. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or other proper authority. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree is required in Food and Nutrition, Institutional Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management or Dietetic. Must meet Louisiana Department of Education requirements for a certificate as a Child Nutrition Program Supervisor. 3 years of work experience in school food service or equivalent with knowledge in accounting/payroll. Excellent record keeping skills and procedures Attentive to detail Ability to manage various work streams and multi-task Ability to manage time effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills, grammar and punctuation Familiarity with modern office equipment and programs Adheres to all West Baton Rouge Parish School Board's Policies PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.NOTE: This job description is subject to change at any time.
