POSITION OVERVIEW As a Director of Advancement, you will serve as a key revenue leader on the Advancement Team, which raises $40 million annually in support of BGCP's mission. This role carries primary geographic responsibility for the Mid and North Peninsula region, with selective coverage in the South Peninsula. The Director will focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors with a core giving range of $10,000-$50,000 annually, while strategically identifying and developing prospects with the capacity to make transformational gifts of $100,000+. In addition, the Director will activate and lead a North County Task Force of donors and Board members and provide visible leadership across key regional engagement and fundraising events. The ideal candidate is a highly relational, strategic fundraiser who thrives in face-to-face engagement, proactively builds new networks, and drives revenue growth through disciplined portfolio management. This individual must be able to articulate a compelling case for both unrestricted and program-specific support and confidently represent BGCP across diverse audiences. Reporting to the Vice President, Advancement, this role partners closely with the CEO, Board members, and senior leadership to expand BGCP's philanthropic footprint across the Peninsula. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESFundraising & Portfolio Management: Manage and grow a portfolio of donors and prospects across the Mid and North Peninsula (with some South Peninsula coverage) Secure gifts primarily in the $10,000-$50,000 range, while building and advancing a pipeline of $100,000+ major gift prospects Conduct direct, face-to-face solicitations and close major gifts aligned with annual revenue goals Develop and execute strategic moves management plans for each portfolio relationship Identify, research, and qualify new individual prospects with strong affinity and capacity Partner with Board members and BGCP ambassadors to open doors and expand regional networks Represent BGCP at community events, meetings, and cultivation opportunities throughout assigned regions Leadership & Engagement Lead and activate an existing North County Task Force of donors and Board members to strengthen regional engagement and expand philanthropic investment Partner with Advancement and Executive Leadership to set clear goals and priorities for North County growth Support and play a leadership role in key North County events and engagement opportunities, including Shark Tank, Open Houses, Campaign events, and other cultivation initiatives Leverage regional events as strategic opportunities to identify, cultivate, and advance major gift prospects Donor Engagement Strategy: Implement personalized stewardship strategies that deepen engagement and inspire increased giving Collaborate with Programs and Volunteer teams to curate meaningful site visits, tours, and volunteer experiences Personally invite and host donors at key events such as Youth of the Year, donor receptions, and Future Launch Track all engagement, activity, and revenue metrics within CRM to ensure disciplined portfolio management Review development reports regularly to ensure accuracy and timely acknowledgment Perform additional relevant duties as assigned to enhance donor relations and overall engagement efforts QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 5-7 years of development or related field experience with a proven track record of securing major gifts and meeting goals Outstanding interpersonal skills, demonstrating sensitivity to individual needs Strong writing and speaking skills, compelling individuals to action Knowledge of and commitment to fundraising ethics and best practices Familiarity with Silicon Valley's high net worth audiences Proficiency in CRM, prospect research, and other tools for effective moves management Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated success in team collaboration across departments Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required Clear background check indicating fitness to work with children LOCATION Hybrid: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm; Menlo Park headquarters (with some travel to sites located up and down San Mateo County) COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Full-Time Non-Exempt Pay Range: $110,000-150,000, depending on experience Health Benefits: BGCP covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums; 50% for dependents Retirement Benefits: BGCP offers salary contributions to the 401(k) plan Comprehensive Paid Time-Off Policy, along with additional benefits Sick Time: Full-time employees are front-loaded 40 hours of paid sick time annually Contributing to a thriving community for youth growth: Beyond measure As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
