At Beryl Engineering & Inspection, we're looking for a Senior Structural Engineer who is technically strong and flexible. Someone who can support engineering, inspections, and project leadership as needed. The Role This is a senior, hands-on engineering role; not a people-management position. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will provide technical authority, perform peer reviews, and certify engineering deliverables. Depending on workload and project needs, you will be expected to be flexible and support one or more of the following: Structural inspections and design consultations Condominium inspections Project leadership for residential and commercial engineering work The role is primarily in-office, with potential for site involvement. What You'll Do Engineering & Technical Authority Perform structural analysis and design for Florida residential and commercial projects Review, certify, sign and seal engineering drawings, calculations, letters, and reports Serve as a peer reviewer to ensure accuracy, constructability, and Florida Building Code compliance Apply sound engineering judgment aligned with Florida-specific conditions Flexible Engineering & Inspection Support Participate in structural inspections and design consultations when needed Assist with condominium inspections when projects originate from associations or property managers Translate inspection findings into clear engineering conclusions, reports, and design solutions Support Beryl's role as a neutral, unbiased engineering consultant Project Leadership & Collaboration Lead assigned projects from kickoff through final deliverables when required Coordinate with drafters, design assistants, inspectors, and admin staff to maintain scope, schedule, and quality Participate in weekly design and coordination meetings Provide technical direction through collaboration-not supervision Residential & Florida-Specific Expertise (Critical) Strong experience with Florida residential construction is required Apply knowledge of wood-frame, masonry, foundations, and lateral load systems Address wind loads, exposure categories, coastal considerations, and jurisdictional requirements Produce permit-ready documents aligned with local reviewer expectations Who You Are Florida-licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), in good standing 7+ years of structural engineering experience with strong Florida residential exposure Comfortable with engineering design, inspections, and project leadership Confident sealing work and standing behind engineering decisions Clear communicator with clients, inspectors, and internal teams Able to work primarily in-office in Tampa, with flexibility for site visits as needed Why Beryl At Beryl, senior engineers are trusted to apply judgment while maintaining process.
