Position Type: Special Education/Occupational Therapist - District Date Posted: 12/18/2025 Location: SOUTHMONT CENTRAL OFFICE South Montgomery Community School Corporation (Southmont Schools) Position Announcement: Occupational Therapist - beginning 26/27 School Year Southmont Schools are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Occupational Therapist to serve students across the district's special education programs. The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with educators, families, and support staff to promote student independence, functional skills, and access to the general education curriculum. Position Summary The Occupational Therapist provides direct and consultative services to students with a variety of developmental, physical, sensory, and cognitive needs. This role includes conducting evaluations, developing and implementing therapy plans, participating in IEP processes, and supporting staff to create accessible and supportive learning environments. Key Responsibilities Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with students' IEPs. Conduct assessments to determine eligibility, needs, and appropriate interventions. Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Develop individualized treatment plans and document progress. Support staff with strategies for sensory regulation, fine motor skills, and motor planning. Assist in adapting school environments, materials, and equipment to support student participation. Maintain compliance with IDEA, Article 7, and district policies. Communicate regularly with families and caregivers regarding student progress and strategies. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Current Indiana Occupational Therapist license (OT) required. Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Experience working in a school setting preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of pediatric development and school-based therapy practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Experience with sensory processing supports and school-based interventions. Ability to work across multiple buildings and age groups. Commitment to inclusive practices and student-centered problem solving.
